Credentials – Author’s Lax Profile:
Playing Lax – Grew up playing lacrosse in Boston as a kid where I was an Attackman. I’ve continued to play lacrosse as an adult, playing both outdoor & indoor/box lacrosse, still play Club Lacrosse and playing league games & tournaments to include playing in the Grand Masters Division in the Florida Lacrosse Classic. As an adult in my mid-40′s I play both Attack and Middie since I’m still able to run the field. I played outdoor lax in Boston, Long Island, NY and Florida where I’ve played for Team Florida, Tara’s, the Ft. Lauderdale Yellowjackets and the Buzzards. I played indoor lax in Long Island, NY for the Tara’s and in Florida for LacrosseWear.
Coaching Lax - 11 years of coaching all youth levels in the roles of Head Coach, Assistant Coach and as an Offensive Coordinator. I’ve coached in Colorado, Long Island, NY and Florida with winning seasons every year! I’ve coached kids who’ve made Team Long Island, South Florida Select and Xtreme Team. I have also coached kids who have moved on to play college lacrosse.
This Lacrosse Playbook was originally my playbook I used for my teams. Coaching is a very demanding job when you take it seriously in regards to the time it takes to prepare for a season, develop practice plans, run practices, attend games and deal with the various administrative tasks in running a team. After 9 years of coaching various teams, I’ve decided to step down as a Head Coach and help other coaches as an Assistant Coach & Guest Coach, along with providing coaching material in order to help them do their job better – therefore I’m willing to share my playbook now with other coaches. This is a great training aid for both a new lacrosse coach, a coach who has been coaching but never had any real organized approach, and for the players themselves. You can only teach so much during a practice and the kids can only absorb so much. This is a great way for the kids to review concepts after practice that they may have not understood. It is likewise a great tool for a coach to structure his season, what he’s going to teach and different plays to run during games.
Also included in the training is a “Game Day Plays” reference sheet that is a PDF file that can be printed off for game day. It is a one page “reference sheet” that contains the various Game Day Plays presented in this online Playbook. It is intended to print off and keep on your clipboard as a reference during the game. During the intensity and speed of the game, you sometimes forget some of your play options. This becomes a quick visual reference to jar your memory on executing certain plays. It is also useful for when a player forgets a play, you can hand them the clipboard so they can look at the diagram and remember the play. Likewise at the bottom of the sheet is a place to log the timeouts you have taken and the score.
Also included is a “Practice Plan Template” to build custom practice plans (in two formats, one in Word format (docx) and one in PDF format) and 40 Practice Plans already created and ready to use!
