Category: QuickTest Professional (QTP) is a great test automation tool used for functional testing. It is the “cadillac” of the testing tools with tons of features and interfaces. It’s strength can also be its weakness; it is very robust with numerous capabilities however this can also be very overwhelming and confusing to people new to the tool and test automation in general. In order to help alleviate some of the questions, concerns and hesitation in investing in the cadillac of testing tools, I have made available some of the high-level videos from the QuickTest Pro version 10 Documentation folder. Also are the PDFs for many of the QTP books to get familiar with the tools capabilities so that you don’t feel like you are making a huge investment “blindly”; now you will be more educated about how you are spending your budget.

Videos – these are AVI format and need the TechSmith Codec installed to view them (which is included below). Most of these are actually based on the old 9.0 version but are still relevant. It is what HP shipped with version 10:
- TSCC.exe – TechSmith Codec, just click on it to install it (do this first to watch a movie).
- IDEPresentation.avi – presentation about the QTP IDE.
- KDTPresentation.avi – presentation on the Keyword Driven Testing feature of QTP.
- ORMPresentation.avi – presentation on the Object Repository Manager.
- WSPresentation.avi – presentation on the Web Service addin.
Documents – currently these are all PDFs on QTP v10:
- QTP_PAM.pdf – QTP Product Availability Matrix.
